Matthew M. Rafa to receive Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award

In recognition of his participation in pharmacy associations , professional programs, state association activities and community service, Matthew M. Rafa, PharmD, is chosen Distinguished Young Pharmacist for 2019. He will be given the award by Ken Reed, President of the West Virginia Pharmacists Association, October 19, at the Charleston Marriott Hotel.

His award is sponsored by Pharmacists Mutual Companies.

An active pharmacist with Kroger in Wheeling, WV, Matthew has been Employed Pharmacy Director for the West Virginia Pharmacists Association since 2015, and an active member of the Association since 2012.

He is also a member of the American Pharmacists Association.

Active in community activities, Matthew participates in the Boy Scouts of the Ohio River Valley Council in Wheeling. He is also a Cub Master of Pack 13 of the Warwood Cub Scouts, and First Vice President of the Warwood Lions Club and chair of the Warwood Farmers Market.

An active pharmacist, Matthew is a recipient of Kroger Columbus Division Shining Star Award in 2010-11 and 2011-12. He was chosen Young Pharmacist of the Year by the West Virginia Society of Health System Pharmacists, and Ohio-Marshall County Pharmacist Association Pharmacist of the Year in 2014.

Matthew is recipient of the West Virginia Pharmacists Association Generation Rx Champion’s Award in 2017.
