Senate Passes Rx Cost Disclosure Bill

The West Virginia Senate today passed Senate Bill 46 by a unanimous vote legislation that allows pharmacists to to “inform customers about lower cost alternatives to the medication that the customers have been prescribed, including, but not limited to, biosimilar or generic drugs.

“This legislation was introduced at the request of the West Virginia Pharmacists Association so pharmacists could pass cost savings onto their patients,” said Richard Stevens, Executive Director.

The bill now goes to the House of Delegates for its consideration.
