Introduced the first day of the 2018 Legislature, Senate Bill 46 amends current law (30-5-10) by allowing a pharmacist to “inform customers about lower cost alternative to the medication that the customers have been prescribed including, but not limited to, biosimilar or generic drugs. ”
The bill also prohibits a pharmacists and pharmacy benefit managers from charging retail prices for drugs in excess of the price the pharmacists or pharmacy benefit managers paid to acquire those drugs.
