Drug diversion course scheduled

WV Pharmacy Law and Board of Pharmacy rules require a licensed pharmacist to complete an approved, three-hour course on “drug diversion and best practices prescribing of controlled substances” every two years to maintain their license.  The law (SB 437) was passed by the Legislature and is required of all health care professionals who prescribe or dispense controlled substances.

The course will be presented at the West Virginia Pharmacists Association 109th Annual Convention, October 9, 2016, at the Charleston Marriott Hotel, 200 Lee Street, Charleston, WV.

It will be presented by Michael G. O’Neil, PharmD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Drug Diversion, Pain Management and Substance Abuse Specialist, at the South College School of Pharmacy in Knoxville, TN, and Richard Stevens, WVPA Executive Director.
